Such prior art references might be the ones cited by the applicant in all the previous applications pertaining to the same general idea as the current invention. These references are generally required to be cited at the time of submitting the patent application with a given patent office.

Another source of such prior art could be references cited by other patent offices examining the application on same invention and need to be updated to the examiner during the prosecution.
